Daniel Rossen and Fred Nicolaus formed
Department of Eagles in 2000, and since tiny Manchester based imprint
Melodic released their initial 2003 debut, "The Cold Nose", they've been growing in critical acclaim and musical complexity.
Closely associated with
Grizzly Bear (Rossen plays with them and Chris Bear, Grizzly Bear's drummer, features on DOA latest album "
In Ear Park"), the band meld experimental electronica and lo-fi punk to acheive a unique progression from Odelay-period
Beck. Maybe.
Last month's "In Ear Park" on
4AD is an intimate affair, all blurry childhood memories and nostalgia, lush production and subtle elegy.
