For his second show at Galerie Georges-Philippe et Nathalie Vallois,
Boris Achour presents "Celui dans la grotte", a new episode in the Conatus series. Since 2006, this series has comprised exhibitions, films and website pages, based on the Spinozan principle of the
conatus, or driving force, which in Achour’s work acts as a creative principle – in other words, as a generator of desires directed at images, concepts, minerals, plants or human beings.
The walls are covered with brightly-coloured compositions inspired by geological cross section drawings whilst inflatable stalactites and Firecamps, pyramidal structures made of standard neon tubes, light up the exhibition. The physical nature of the works form a landscape of mineral, erotic and theatrical effect.
