The exhibition « l’anse brisee » (the broken handle) questions normality and the theme of “form after function”. The central work is a pylon power line, reproduced at a fifth of its scale on which a force is exerted until it bends. The object, initially designed to withstand force, becomes deformed and reduced to an inert state.
Bouvdin is interested in what is under the surface of things; the hidden parts of society. Several photographs are witness to various mono-functional forgotten infrastructures: a road, a bridge, a building. These structures, some of which have been abandoned before they have even been used to their potential, are reproduced through Bouvdin’s detailed technical drawings.
