World Compass Beta is an interactive installation presenting various key cities through a database of 15 000 edited photographs in HD on which, through a clock, compass and altimeter interface, the visitors can navigate and travel in four dimensions: by latitude, longitude, altitude and time. For this particular exhibition, Florent Wendling presents an imaginary journey through Shangai -suburbs, monuments, parks, large ports and factories- the length and breadth of the city is explored.

Florent Wendling is a director and French/American photographer and lives in Shangai. He started his career in photography and television in Paris, producing and directing documentaries on art and commissioned photographic work. In 1988 he produced and directed “Dessine Moi L’Europe”, a TV series filmed and distributed in 13 European countries.
