Last days of the Nazi occupation of Copenhagen and a film from the end of von Trier’s studies at the Danish school of cinema - Images of Liberation.
“If, in other films, it is a question of exploring the psychology of the protagonist or the logic of intrigue, Images of liberation explores its scenograpy. When you study psychology you don’t begin by showing and explaining everything. On the contrary, there are a certain number of pieces of the puzzle which form to a greater extent an image of a clearer whole. The spatial exploration to which I deliver myself in this film acts in the same manner". Lars von Trier
