DANCE

The Song

Written 30 January

Wednesday 24 June, 20:30
Théâtre de la Ville, 75004 [map]
Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker

De Keersmaeker created Fase, four movements to the music of Steve Reich. The success of Fase contributed largely to the foundation of the company Rosas in 1983 and her rising prominence in contemporary dance. The importance she places on the relationship between music and movement and writing is again seen in 'The Song', a piece created for nine men and one woman. The body is seen as a resonant chamber for the chaotic flows of its environment. The Song takes up from the point that Keeping Still and Zeitung had reached: the moment of suspension announcing the advent of a new world.
