Parisian Lori Sean Berg and Nebraskan Shane Aspegren formed
The Berg Sans Nipple in 2001, and released the chaotic "Form Of" two years later. Widely considered to be an important link between modern electronica and post-rock, the band recently released their latest multi-instrumental work on
Team Love Records (home to Gruff Rhys, Flowers Forever, Mars Black...), the label describing them as "two kids trapped in a tangled mess of cables, keyboards, samplers, horns, bells, machines and drums".
Leading exponents of the German New Wave scene,
Die Goldenen Zitronen's tough blend of garage, synths and experimental punk rock has real historic roots: growing from the violence and political unrest of Hamburg in the '80s, the (now seven piece) group race through electro, hip hop, noise and improv jazz in their chaotic live sets.
Also on the bill this evening are guitar/saxophone duo Ero Babaa and labelmates (on
Bimbo Tower) Salmigondis, whose radical free-jazz-esque mayhem should set the scene nicely.
