Something a bit different for the final instalment of Jazz à La Villette in this issue: art rockers
Elysian Fields bring their sultry, dreamlike sound to the festival. The band's albums have met with consistent praise over the last 14 years (including two on
John Zorn's Tzadik label), but the real strength of this thoroughly underground phenomenon lies in its live performances with lineups featuring members of Jeff Buckley's band, Thomas Bartlett and Jamie Saft at times.
Tonight's performance also features the stylistically diverse Bronx composer, clarinettist and
Black Rock Coalition member
Don Byron.
