For its 10th edition, the
@rt Outsiders festival looks at extreme environments, up to now uninhabited by humans, and of which technology and contemporary science are making them « habitable » (Antarctic, sub aquatic environments, extra-terrestrial space, desert), but also those that are becoming uninhabitable by our activities and ways of life ( through pollution, technological accidents, economic imperatives and global warming). The exhibition presents a group of work which explores the imaginary as well as the reality, and takes a view which encompasses politics, society, ecology as well as the poetic idea of what living the extreme signifies for all of us.
The @rt Outsiders festival is running a conference today at 6pm. It runs parallel to the exhibition and will be looking at the geopolitical stakes of energy resources in the Arctic. Places are on a first come first served basis so get there early.
