Guillaume Herbaut, photojournalist and conceptual photographer is recognized as one of the pioneers of the new documentary style. His new exhibition, Slavoutich is a portrayal of the town of the same name built by the soviet government to re house the workers of Chernobyl nuclear power station after the explosion of 1986. The city is only 60km away but has everything the workers need - clean streets, inexpensive shops, no power cuts, television etc. On near completion of the project the authorities discover that this region is also contaminated and, in December 2001, the Chernobyl power station is closed definitively with 9000 workers being made redundant.
