Ziad Antar

Born in 1978 in Saïda, Lebanon, Ziad Antar came to Paris in 2003 to participate in a programme of artistic research. He has recently exhibited at the New Museum of New York and the Biennale of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.

His photography and videos witness a world marked by conflict. Through his camera he observes daily life in a world at war as in Safe Sound or Al Zahraa’. Rather than transmitting an openly political message he prefers to concentrate on actual codes of video as visual language. His videos are short, without technological effect and all the more poignant.
