In his first French solo show,
Benoît Vollmer presents his subtle "Liminaire" series - a body of photographs that play with the medium and question the notion of "aura" in photography. Ilfochrome paper is inserted into a large format camera and directly exposed, without the use of film. The importance of the collection as a whole is paramount - whilst each individual image holds its own value, it's the overall structure formed by the entire group which gives the collection meaning.
