Gilbert Garcin will be celebrating his eightieth birthday and fifteen years of a dazzling career. To mark the occasion Galerie Filles du Calvaire presents a retrospective of his work which goes hand in hand with a new publication of his work by his favourite publisher, Filigranes. Garcin took up photography at the age of 65 and has produced a remarkable and inspiring body of work since. Comical and surreal, his work, often including his own image, attempts to confront the meanings and absurdities of the human condition in stark, dream-like landscapes and situations.
