Inspired by late 80's hip hop and
Sun Ra's out-there style, string player Miles Tackett founded
Breakestra in the mid-90's after realising, in his own words, that "hip hop is the only music keeping funk alive". A decade later, the Breakestra phenomena has spread beyond it's native LA and out into the international funk, soul and hip hop scene, championed by Deep funk DJ's worldwide as one of the most positive forces in funk today.
