(Fr)homage to Obama?

Welcome to The Parisian, your source for what's on this week, and this weekend, in Paris. Looking for clubs, gigs, art shows, exhibitions, film, dance and theatre in Paris? We sort through hundreds of events every week and bring you the cream of the crop.

Import. Export. USA. France. It's a big issue. A few things are for sure, though. First, no self-respecting European capital can do without that essential US export, Detroit techno; and this week we have Jeff Mills, one of it's key components, in town. Second, the links between the French artistic eye and the urban landscapes of NYC are crystal clear through the work of Elodie Lachaud. And third, everyone likes Roquefort. Obama has frozen the salaries of his house staff, showing him to be a prudent and economic man. How long will it be, how many after-dinner cheese platters will pass his lips before sense wins through and the duty-hike gets the boot?

There is a world, not too far distant, where strong cheese, urban photography and hard-as-nails techno can live in harmony. Let's have a look at some of the artists, musicians and cultural activists who will make that world a beautiful, noisy, slightly smelly reality.

Many thanks to this week's sponsor, bombshop.
