Drones, Soundscapes and Electricity

Welcome to The Parisian, your source for what's on this week, and this weekend, in Paris. Looking for clubs, gigs, art shows, exhibitions, film, dance and theatre in Paris? We sort through hundreds of events every week and bring you the cream of the crop.

As always, we've got a lot of variety in our selective "what's on" this week. However, attention is very much drawn to the Présences électronique festival - we don't usually give such heavy coverage to whole festivals, but the lineup of each one of these events is pretty special. From Philip Jeck (Friday) via Mika Vainio (Saturday) to David Toop and Peter Rehberg (Sunday), the festival presents some of the most exciting names in avant garde music from the last twenty years. Even if you're not an experimental music fan, you can't fail to be soothed and inspired by Jeck's densely layered soundscapes and you might just dance to Mika Vainio's terse tech structures. Maybe. Whatever - these three days of music, sound art and associated projects should not be missed.

Elsewhere, our fine city continues to pulsate with visual art, film, photography, opera, classic club moments and exciting academic discussion. Get out there.

Many thanks to this week's sponsor, kudos.
