So it turns out that 60% of the population are unhappy with Sarkozy. Obscurely funded Mexican mini-breaks don't help, neither does the continued unrest. Better work it out, Nicolas, or more and more factory managers will end up hostages.

On the musical front, there's much more to be happy about this week, especially for fans of disco/house. It's not often that you can see Moodymann, Grace Jones, Andrew Weatherall, Franck Roger, Joakim and Motorcitysoul all in the same week. If you're after something a little less intense, try Kid Loco's chilled beats or Sophie Hunger's bittersweet folk-pop.

On the visual side, it's Art Paris time again. Alexander Calder and Christian Morel both get exhibited this week, too. It's also a big week for all things choreographic: Master Butoh artist Katsura Kan presents his dynamic yet meditative physical pieces, and celebrated choreographer Richard Siegal presents new experimental work in conjunction with Alberto Posadas.

So think twice before you lock yourself in your office with your reluctant boss/hostage - you might be missing out on some seriously unmissable culture.
